Getting Rid of It - 1/29/2012

Tossed:
Three silk tank tops that  lasted nearly forever but have finally disintegrated to the point that I can no longer even sleep in them
An old carabineer that I used to put keyrings on
A pair of tiny scissors, like for a first aid kit, origin unknown
Three old comic books from the Golden Legacy series

Recycled: A 2011 cat calendar that I never even opened

The comic books were the tricky one.  I am mixed race.  My mother was white and my father was black.  I grew up in a predominantly white environment and my mother was the one trying to make sure I was staying in touch with my roots, or something, so she got me these comic books about famous African-Americans in history.  I read the one about Harriet Tubman over and over until it fell apart.  The others (Benjamin Banneker, Toussiant  L'Overture, Crispus Attucks), not so much.   I've kept them mostly out of some sort of guilt that I could never get into them.  I checked on eBay, and they don't go for much, even when in good condition, which mine aren't.
